I can't tell from the discussion what's up. But there are some features that have been removed as patent suits carry on.

Problem with Netflix iPad app and Samsung Smart TV

You may have to call in to get some clarity or not! I know that router settings can cause this but I don't see details here about the error or network. Because of patent disputes and other things. My network is all gigabit Ethernet. My WiFi, which is only used for the iPad and other wifi only devices, is provided by a standalone access point connected to a gigabit Ethernet router. The YouTube feature that does essentially the same thing seems to work. I also have a Chromecast and it works fine with both Netflix and YouTube.

However when I select either of my Samsung TVs The iPad throws an error. If I try to play a file again the screen goes black for a second, then the Netflix app restarts and just sits there. Again the iPad throws an error. I remember using this feature back when I first got the TV and it worked fine. I didn't have much use for it at the time so it was just a novelty I was playing with.

Now I do have use for it and would prefer to use the TV app instead of the Chromecast because then I can use the remote to pause instead of the iPad. I posted some things over in the CNET Networking forum and it continues to confound everyone that a network works but not on this or that and it's never proof that our network is ready for Samsung or other things.

Sorry but over time I've learned to give people months to soften up and then, when they are ready we go over the network with a fine toothed comb. The hard clients are the ones that tell you "it's not that. Which can confuse the heck out of folk. I'm a software engineer by trade and I know my way around a network, so I'm In fact the 32" TV is connected directly to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the router, as is the AP I'm connecting to from the iPad.

As a test I disconnected everything else on the network except those two things and I still have this problem. So unless there is some magic port I need to open in the firewall to make this work, which I doubt, I really don't think the network is to blame. That being said if you're telling me that you have the same generation of TV and can actually get this feature to work properly then I'll continue to investigate further. Just for clarification here's a simplified explanation of what I'm seeing I get sound but no picture.
